Airport Industries:

Experience matters in a challenging environment

Melbourne and Brisbane Airports are unique environments, operating 24/7 with curfew-free activities. Melbourne is Australia’s second-busiest passenger airport and leading airfreight exporter, while Brisbane is our third busiest.

As you’d expect, all works at these airports are subject to stringent approval processes and guidelines.

We have experience providing design and engineering services at both Melbourne and Brisbane and are very familiar with the relevant permit management procedures.

Having the necessary disciplines in house and the capability to prepare all documentation under one roof has enabled us to provide efficient and cost-effective services across a diverse range of projects.

Melbourne Airport:

We have provided design and engineering solutions for a variety of specialised projects at the airport including support footings for a new airbridge; two substations; the design of Nose In Guidance Systems poles for two approach paths; and a recycled water pipeline through the airport industrial estate.

Europcar:

This international vehicle rental firm appointed us to desin their car-stacking operations, offices and workshops at Melbourne and Brisbane Airports and, importantly, to manage the complex airport approvals and permit process. We met the challenge of providing secure facilities and maximising the amount of cars held on site.

First Point Animal Services:

This speciality transport company is entrusted with airfreighting horses to and from all corners of the globe. We designed their quarantine facilities at Melbourne Airport, accommodating the exacting requirements enforced by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry to ensure safe and secure operations.

SkyBus:

This well-known company provides express passenger transfers from Melbourne Airport to the city and bayside suburbs. They commissioned us to design a secure parking depot at the airport, including a 20-metre-wide cantilevered sliding gate, while ensuring smooth entry and exit for their fleet of buses.

Thrifty:

For this national operator of vehicle rentals we designed a new car-stacking yard and offloading area at Melbourne Airport, including extending and rearranging the existing facility to provide secure entry and exit points for heavy vehicle transporters while maximising the number of cars stacked on site.

Qantas:

Our largest airline and national flag carrier, Qantas appointed us to design their valet car washing operation at Melbourne Airport by restoring and upgrading a defunct facility. Utilising existing electrical and trade waste services, we were able to minimise costs and add an amenities and office area.

Rekaris was able to handle a very challenging environment dealing with both BAC and ABC who were not always reasonable or easy to satisfy. At all times Stavros maintained a professional manner and often assisted with issues not necessarily strictly within his scope of works.
